About Me

I am a game programmer who loves to learn new things. My main area is in gameplay programming but I have experience in and enjoy doing other things as well such as tools and engine programming.

I have a bit over 2 and a half years of professional experience across two different studios and projects.

The first started as an internship which lead to employment at the AA-sized studio Pieces Interactive where I worked on the title Alone in the Dark, including its release on PC and consoles. The game was made in Unreal Engine 4 and I worked with a mix of C++ and blueprints. During my time there I worked on several gameplay related systems in close collaboration with designers as well as more engine related tasks and console specific development such as achievements and DLC content implementations.

My latest professional experience was at a startup studio called Pigs Will Fly studios where we were in the early prototyping phase for an ambitious third person shooter game based on an existing sci-fi IP "Children of the Phoenix". I worked and iterated on several different gameplay systems, as well as being quite involved in various design processes. Sadly, the studio got shut down so the project never got to see the light of day.

Prior to working, I studied game programming at The Game Assembly in Stockholm, a higher vocational education school for game development. The education has a large focus on practical application, with a total of 8 different game projects made in various genres and scopes in groups of around 12 people. During the second year we even made our own custom C++ engine from scratch which two of our projects were made in.

I think one of my biggest takeaways from my time at the school is a curiosity and willingness to learn, for every project we did I wanted to try something new, be it AI, tools, player movement, or something else. I also think it has made me good at working with other people as every project in the first year was in a completely new and randomized group, which forces us to be able to adapt to different people and be able to collaborate.

I also really enjoy doing stuff outside of work, primarily in the form of game jams. I find them to be a great creative outlet to be able to create something and take on roles and tasks I maybe wouldn’t otherwise, but without the large time commitment of doing a full scale game. I have as of now participated in 16 different game jams in varying group sizes and they can all be played on my itch.io page!
